hello i want to use pro tool
but i don't know blind people can use or not
As it stands now, blind people cannot use ProTools when running the current version and the latest version of Apple's operating system. However, some people do run much older versions of ProTools on OS9 using a product called Outspoken. I don't think Outspoken is being sold anymore, though, so you'd have to find a used copy somewhere.
I'm really hoping that Digidesign and Apple get their asses in gear concerning these issues. I was an audio/radio major at college and struggled in my production classes because I was unable to use ProTools.
yeah, right now, an older OS9 system is the only way to go. And you are correct, outspoken is neither sold or supported now adays. I'd say go with sonar. It's your best bet for at least the next year to two years according to my sources. Pro tools is not compatible with voice over and the whole gui needs to be re written for it to work. there is a patition and I suggest everybody sign it. There is an older board topic regarding the patition and that has the url I believe. I don't have it in front of me right now. If i dig it up tonight, I'll post it on this board.
I've heard that the whole VO and ProTools thing's in the works. I could care less, as even though PT is the industry standard, there are Digital Audio software packages with better sound, such as Logic. That's the one I'm pushing for most. Pro Tools may be the industry standard, but as long as you can convert to and from their file types, use whatever software you want, providing it works for you.
the main thing with pro tools is the hardware. the hd systems with the PCI cards in particular. Me, I've got a sonar based studio and i'm sticking with that for now.
oh you mean blind people can use pro tool hardware only?
ProTools is supposed to be used with a specific hardware setup. It, and the graphical interface of the program, are not accessible.
Yeah, but seriously, most studios actually are using the software version, Pro Tools LE. The hardware stuff is kinda going he way of the dinosaur as processors get better, and have more processor cores.
I'd agree that project studios are using pro tools le but hd with the excel 3 is still the standard. These quad core macs are going to really shake up the audio/video world though!

Thanks for posting that Nikos. I hadn't tagged the page in my favorites after all. i suggest everyone sign it and send it to those you know who would be willing to sign it. Numbers really do count.
